EMPLOYMENT

Ms. Gleason has enjoyed a diverse employment history prior to her current position as an LPC-S, with her clinical practice - Boerne Counseling and Consultant Service

First, during her internship she chose to counsel with individuals, couples and friends, families and significant others at Oak Lawn Community Services and remained on staff at the agency following her graduation. There she counseled with individuals, facilitated groups and co-facilitated an intensive, out-patient substance abuse treatment program. The focus of the facility was providing counseling services to the GLBT population. Oak Lawn Community Services was also recognized as an Adult Care facility for HIV/AIDS clientele, which offered Gleason the opportunity to provide counseling services and facilitating groups on issues related to trauma, bereavement, death and dying, relationship, conflict resolution, depression, complicated grief, multiple losses, stress and abuse, as well as providing psycho-educational workshops on topics such as: relationships & communication, alcohol & addiction-scope of the disease, grief, loss, & coping strategies related to HIV/AIDS.

Prior to her experience as a clinical therapist, Gleason taught grades first-sixth with the Dallas Independent School District, where she served as team leader, chair of several committees and co-authored the school improvement plan.

Gleason was also employed as a project manager with a home health care agency where she developed and implemented the

co-ordination of a Texas Department of Child and Protective Service Agency, state-funded pilot study known as "The Emergency Response Alert System". The project's focus was to enable elderly and disabled to remain living in their homes as opposed to nursing home care. Thus, Gleason travelled the 19 county Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex and developed collaborative partnerships with emergency response personnel and local law enforcement in an effort to serve the elderly and disabled population when a life threatening situation would arise. For example, when an emergency call for help was received at the 24 hour call center where Gleason provided supervision, the emergency first responders were alerted. Under her guidance and supervision the project proved to be a success saving many lives and is actually used by thousands today frequently recognized under different names.
